Things To Do
Geelong, its surrounding coastline and countryside offer a diverse range of attractions.
The region offers a wide mix of attractions from natural bush to spectacular surf beaches, historic townships to cosmopolitan shopping precincts.
Barwon Heads is alive with ocean air and cool coastal vibes.
The town has a dream position with a mix of gentle estuary, rocky coastal headland and ocean beaches. The main street has more than a couple of good places to eat and plenty of boutiques to shop up a storm. A surf at Thirteenth and a coffee at Annie's - now you're doing it like a local.
Ocean Grove. A place to build beach shacks, sandcastles and memories.
Families have been visiting Ocean Grove for generations. It's not hard to understand why. The roar of the surf, the ocean breezes, the coastal town vibe and it's surrounded by all the food, wine and attractions of The Bellarine.
Amazing above sea level. Awesome below.
Point Lonsdale is enviably located at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. The sky is dominated by the lighthouse, the sands below are popular beaches for sandcastles, rockpooling and, at the back beach, surfing. The main street with its shopping and cafe strip is right opposite the beach, perfect for alfresco dining with a sea breeze.
Step back in time or step aboard to discover classic Queenscliff.
Once best known for grand old hotels and fanciness, Queenscliff still nods to the past with several museums and hands-on activities to immerse yourself in it. But the town also has an eye on the future. The new harbour development is a base to explore Port Phillip Bay. The ferry arrives nearby and tour boats depart from here for wildlife tours, diving, fishing and swimming with dolphins. The regular Blues Train party on the vintage steam trains starts and finishes here too.
Mountain bike or take a hike - reconnect with nature at the You Yangs.
The granite peaks of the You Yangs dominate the skyline of Geelong and the region. For generations, families have enjoyed nature walks and views from the summit. More recently, work undertaken to create tracks has made it a hit with mountain bikers. Nearby Serendip Sanctuary is a haven for wildlife.
